Silver Lake Fishing Report
8-21-2010
Andrew Jones
Fishing at Silver Lake has continued to be great despite a bit of wind this week. We received a nice truck load of DFG fish and an even bigger load of Alpers trout weighing 2 to 3 pounds each this week. We had some very nice fish come in the past few days with two very nice 4 plus pound rainbows and 10 plus rainbows brought in weighing over a pound. The norm has been producing the nice size trout; Salmon Peach, Garlic, Rainbow, and Salmon Egg Red Power Baits have been working well for the still fisherman both from shore and from a boat at the far south end of Silver lake. If you want to throw a lure, try a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant or a Gold Super Duper. If you are into trolling, try a streamer like a #6 Olive Matuka, Hornberg, or Green Wolly Bugger, or a Y82 Tasmanian Devil ( Pink with Yellow wings). I have had a hard time keeping this Tasmanian Devil in stock this week. Using this type of Tasmanian Devil in a 7g size from shore has also been doing very well. Along Rush Creek or the far end of Silver, using a Mosquito, Sierra Brite dot or an Elks Hare Caddis fly either with a fly rod or a spinning rod with a bubble has also done well. Don't be afraid of throwing the entire tackle box at the fish, they are not as picky as you may think. Enjoy the last few weeks of Summer and happy fishing.

4) Nathan Pollard of Murietta caught a great 4 lb 1 oz Rainbow from Silver Lake Shore using Power Bait
