Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report

Cabo hosted the IGFA Offshore World Championship with 40 teams from around the world competing. In four days of fishing there were only 60 striped marlin caught and released. A local team won with seven releases...their second IGFA World Championship win in a row. Congrats to the team: Oscar Daccarett, Javier Villavicancio, Jobe Villavicancio, Rafael Garcia, Hernando Gonzales (who released six) and Daniel Fisher (who released one).
Football-sized tuna are close in, along with the wahoo. Bigger fish were around Golden Gate, but the rougher water made it difficult to reach them.

There were a few dorado caught mostly from people heading out to deeper waters looking for the bigger tuna and marlin. Most were in the 15 to 25 pound range. No dorado were landed during the tournament!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! The catch of the week: Lots of wahoo, mostly in the 30 to 60 pound range. And the best part is, you don't have to go far. They are right out front. Had some guys go out just for the afternoon and they got five hookups with three in the boat. Smallest was about 30 pounds and the other two were 45 to 50 pounds each. Right place right time! You need to hop a plane and get here now! Bigger fish were caught with concentrations of tuna.

Inshore action produced roosterfish and sierra where the wahoo have been.....George and Mary Landrum
