As we move into full holiday mode, there is still some local fishing to get you out of the holiday blues and into good times on the water. A few yellowtail in La Jolla and the Coronado Islands on the boats from Seaforth Sportfishing. Good rock fish locally, and on boats like the Indian from H and M Landing running overnight trips on the weekend to the finger bank. The Legend starts their 1 1/2 day Colonet trips on December 11th. The San Diego Anglers Bay Bass Tournament is slated for January 30th, and we will keep you posted on when you can sign up.

Rock Cod Rick is aboard the Royal Star for our annual 10 day trip, and the fishing is starting to really turn on again on the lower banks off Cabo. The weather has improved and yesterday the long range boats had fantastic fishing on 70 to 170 pound tuna. The Royal Polaris boated 75 of this beautiful grade yellowfin. The prospects for the big fish look good, and you will get the latest information on the current bite Saturday on Let's Talk Hook-up when Rick and the other long range boats report in live from the spot.

This Wednesday December 9 the Fish and Game Commission will meet to discuss the adoption of the proposed preferred alternative MLPA map at the Radisson Hotel at the Los Angeles Airport. Public comment will be accepted from 10:15am to 12:30pm. This will most likely be the last chance to voice your opinion to the commission on the MLPA for the south coast and show your support for the fishermans preferred alternative Map 2 that the Blue Ribbon Task Force chose to ignore. Be there if you can to support our right to fish.

This Saturday morning from 7am to 9am Pete Gray will be in the XX studio with Rob Sanford and Beau Palmer from Defiance Boats. Rob and Beau will talk about what to look for in purchasing a trailer able fishing boat, as well as have information on a special bank sale they are running. They will also talk about the incredible experience they went through last Saturday when their boat overturned in the Mission Bay channel. The story is amazing, and you won't want to miss it. Sunday from 7am to 9am Pete will be back in the XX 1090 studio with surf fishing guru Gundy Gunderson and Shaun Morey. Gundy is a wealth of knowledge on how to catch fish in the surf, and Shaun wrote Incredible Fishing Stories and will tell some tall fishing tales during the program.
