Well opening day has come and gone leaving many an angler with the feeling of contentment that only Sierra trout fishing can provide. The weather was perfect, creek conditions ideal, and fishing at Lake Sabrina and Intake II was outstanding on Saturday. Anglers who braved the icy conditions at South Lake were also rewarded with good numbers of trout. The road to North Lake isn't open yet but those who made the hiker were treated with excellent fishing. The Alpers plant late last week proved effective with quite a few beautifully colored rainbows in the 2-3lb range being caught. Intake II produced the most big fish, several going 4 to 5lbs and the largest fish reported was just over 6lbs.

The first Alper of the year weighed in at Parchers Resort this season was caught by Katherine Mautier of Artesia, CA. She plucked this 2lb 2oz beauty from the South Fork of Bishop creek using a piece of nightcrawler.
