The lake level fell to 24 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing was good last week. Largemouth went for brown, purple, and dark green creature baits, spider jigs, and drop shots in 5 to 25 feet of water. The topwater bite took bass early or late in the day with walking baits and Whopper Ploppers scoring strikes. The submerged trees kicked out quality bass to anglers throwing crankbaits. Crappie reports were few and far between, but catfish ate cut mackerel and chicken liver in deeper coves.
