Rusty
This week, we have some exciting news from the Colorado River. Local angler Pat Dell caught a few stripers while fishing from shore, using anchovies as bait. The largest striper weighed 5 pounds and measured 24 inches. These fish are being caught from Davis Dam to the Nature Center, and likely even in the marsh area. Anchovies seem to be the bait of choice and are working well.
On Lake Mohave, trolling has been effective in producing stripers. Anglers have been having success with various swimbaits in white or bone colors, which have been particularly effective.
We've also been getting trout stocked to address the caddis fly issue, and anglers are taking full advantage of these stockings. A quick reminder: we'll be getting more trout for the kids' event at the end of September. The event, called "Your First Fish," is designed to teach kids how to catch a fish. More details will be provided as we get closer, but we will have fishing poles for kids to borrow and bait available for them as well. We hope to see moms and dads there too!
Thanks for the continued support! We look forward to hearing your fishing stories and seeing your catches soon.
Now, go catch a fish!
