Shasta Lake is hot and not just the weather. Fat Shasta Lake Brown and Rainbow Trout are on their summer feed bag. They are gorging themselves on huge schools of shad, these hard fighting,  drag ripping, dinner plate trout have beautiful meat and are ready for the BBQ, oven or skillet. Let's put a limit of these fatties in your cooler.

I have been catching these fish between 50 and 100 feet trolling plugs and optimizer jr spoons in various colors at speeds between 2 an 3.5 mph. The hot scents have been ProCure threadfin shad and shrimp/krill gels. The Rainbow Trout are making up most of the action but I have been getting a few nice Browns as well. These Trout have been ranging in size between 2 an 4 pounds, with the occasional 5 to 7 pounder, that 10 pounder is out there too and waiting to be caught. They all put up quite the great drag ripping battle too.
