Another Nautical Day on Lake Erie - But The Walleyes Are Biting
5-15-2024
John P Seiler
First day of 2 with the Curt Taylor group and it was a nautical one. We all met at the dock around 5:30am and discussed about possibly pushing our shove off time until 2pm, as the winds were cranking once again out of the NE at 20+ mph, but the youngster basically said hell yes, lets go , so we loaded up the boat, threw the dock lines and headed out in hopes of landing a few Lake Erie walleyes.
Plan was to drift and cast today but we opted to throw the gear in and send the Bandits back 55 - 80 back unassisted with a speed of 2.7 to 2.9 SOG.
We should have been done early this morning but the crews netting skills were sub par at best and the short strikes continued to plague us. But we worked through rough seas and made our way to 33 of there 36 and called it a day.
Pictures say a thousand words of todays trip, what a day it was. Back at it tomorrow with what appears tobe a much nicer Lake in the morning
