Fish Report for 5-10-2024

The lake has been near full pool consistently for the last few weeks

The lake has been near full pool consistently for the last few weeks, and water temperatures held in the low to mid-sixties. High winds hampered fishing, but mornings provided a four-hour window to hammer large and smallmouth with split shot rigs, Texas rigs, and drop shot plastics. The usual lineup of ox blood, dark green, and purple put fish in the boat. Bass also took deep diving cranks and jerks near rocky structure and in the wind driven mud lines. Striped bass remained lockjawed, but persistent anglers found bitters in the marina and at Yellowbar on lugworms, nightcrawlers, and cut sardines. Catfishing picked up a bit for anglers using dip baits, cut baits, and chicken liver.
