Limit-style fishing throughout the 20-mile stretch from River side Park in Kernville to Johnsondale Bridge

In the Upper Kern, the DFWL stocked all three sections again this week. Our contacts reported limit-style fishing throughout the 20-mile stretch from River side Park in Kernville to Johnsondale Bridge. The water is clear, and the flows are near 400 CFS. Trout have been coming on salmon eggs, trout jigs, Hook Up Baits and Get Bent baits. Fly anglers had good results with nymphs and dry/dropper later in the day. This week the Upper Kern was stocked in the following sections: Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge; and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. In the Lower Kern, flows have decreased, and the bass bite has been fair on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Whiskerfish can be found with dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 415 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 799 CFS.

Castaic Lake: Castaic Lake fell to 83 percent of capacity and water temperatures dropped into the low sixties
Pyramid Lake, CA: The lake held near full pool, and fishing has been good
Lake Isabella: Isabella fell to 37 percent of capacity and the lake appears to be stabilizing
Kern River: Fishing in the Upper Kern has improved since DFWL resumed stocking last week
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah Lake rose to 12 percent of capacity, and anglers reported fair fishing
Lake Success: The lake fell to 9 percent of capacity, and fishing remained decent
River Walk Lakes: This week the first trout stocking of the season went in River Walk on Tuesday
