Best Techniques: Hopper Dropper, Indicator Nymphing
Dry Flies: Chernobyl Ant #8-10, Chernobyl Grizzly #8, CDC PMD DUN #16, Yellow Stimulator #14-16
Nymphs: Flashback Scud, San Juan Worm, JuJu Baetis #16-18, WD-40 Black #18, Fox's Poopah Olive #16-18, Hot Creek Caddis #18, Old School Caddis #18, Drowned Trico Spinner #20-22
Streamers: Really doesn't matter.
I've been down on the San Joaquin but after the road closes I'll be here more often. Haven't heard much from any of my guide friends, but I'd say typical late summer early fall techniques. Afternoons and evenings are probably better than the mornings at this rate. Water is pretty cold in the mornings which has messed with the hatches all summer long here.

for Friday, September 8th, 2023Owens River - Section 3 - Upper (above Crowley): Lots of bugs down near the mouth of the river where it enters Crowley
Owens River - Lower: Flows are bouncing around, and I expect it to stay that way until probably November
San Joaquin River-Middle Fork: Water temperatures are still very cold, and barely creep into the mid 50's most days
Mammoth Lakes Basin: Stripping streamers in the tube or under the indicator are your best bet
East Walker River (CA): Flows seem to be ratcheting down little by little

Owens River - Lower: Flows are down, but it's been extremely hot down

Mammoth Lakes Basin: Full to the top and then some
