Fish Report for 8-4-2023

Striper fishing has been good

8-4-2023
Chad Burton and Chris Borden

The lake fell to 92 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been in the low eighties. Striper fishing has been good with lineside anglers showing up early or late to chase boils. Topwater lures, flukes, and the bubble rig all scored bites. After about 8 or 9 am most of the striped bass action transitioned to cut baits or trolled flies. Bass anglers reported fair fishing on finesse baits. Bass were holding in 10 to 20 feet of water on rocky structure and points, with purple, dark green, and shad colors performing the best. Catfish anglers used chicken liver, cut sardines, and garlic nightcrawlers to score bites. Bluegill bit live worms near brush in the backs of coves.
