Santee Lakes Fishing Report

Santee Lakes Staff

Good afternoon everyone! Today's spotlight is on DJ Evans for the solid bass he pulled out of Lake 3 over the weekend! Despite the heat, the bass bite hasn't taken a break. There has been action on all the lakes. However, Lake 5 still seems to be producing the best results. The best bait to use right now for bass are spinners, crankbaits, and swimbaits. Top water has seen a lot of success in the evening also.

Last Friday, we stocked Lakes 2 and 3 with 500 lbs. of catfish each. Our following stock will be on August 4th. Catfish have been biting well still. The best bait to use is stinkbait, shrimp, mackerel, cut-up hot dogs, and night crawlers.

If you have any kids that want to learn how to fish, the bluegill are biting right now, and they're the perfect fish to try and catch when showing them the ropes. Wax worms work well or other tiny-sized baits.

If you're feeling hungry while you're out here fishing, stop by Angry Pete's Pizza, located next door to the General Store. They serve Pizza, sandwiches, burgers, sweets, beer and now birria! We hope to see you out here.
