Little Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

7-5-2023
Trout Creek Outfitters

While conditions are excellent on this tailwater right now, the angling pressure has been very heavy over the last few weeks. We encourage you to limit your fishing here to give these fish a break. As fisherman, it is important to understand our own impact and do what we can to help preserve our fragile fisheries. There are certainly a lot of great fishing options right now and we ask that you remain aware of your impact during the busiest months of the year. Sometimes, the hardest choice we can make as fisherman to put the best interest of the fish at heart. Please consider moving around and give other waters a try. This will make you a better angler by fishing in new places and under new conditions. It will also show your support for wild trout. A few ways you can still enjoy this incredible area would be limiting your fishing here to one out of every four or five outings and not fishing here during peak hours. You can also try fishing with less intensity. In other words, try only casting dry flies to rising fish or taking a break with every fish you catch and taking a moment to enjoy the view. You can even leave your fly rod at home from time to time and just hike along the river. For those of you that made it to the end of my diatribe, thank you for your consideration!
