Freighting an abundance of yellowfin tuna and beautiful grade yellowtail in the RSW tanks we took advantage of the bounty freelancing along the coast in search of exotics and variety. Of course as fishing seems to go we found it difficult to avoid more beautiful grade yellowtail. Embracing the irony, and opportunity, anglers were more than happy to practice catch and release consistent with our philosophy of not retaining anything that one can not personally use or share with family and friends. In the most stunning scenery the central Baja coast has to offer, complimented by grease calm weather, we appreciated the opportunity to take it all in and fish at our leisure.
Now begins the northerly trek that promises a marked change from the epic conditions enjoyed during the past four days. Well worth the effort, and mandatory either way, big bluefin are last on the list and offer a perfect grand finale if they cooperate. Time allowing we'll make a few short stops on our way up the coast otherwise all are settled in, satisfied, and ready for the run.
Todays image features Royal Star veteran Mike Poteet who had a field day on the long rod and surface iron at Alijos catching a bounty of beautiful grade yellowtail and yellowfin tuna.
