We recently completed the first of three fish surveys at Bear Lake this year. Here are highlights from the survey conducted from May 20–23:

We caught 36 cutthroat trout. They averaged 18.5 inches in length. 66% of the cutthroats did not have a tag on them, meaning they were not stocked but reproduced naturally in the lake.

A total of 21 lake trout were caught. They averaged 29.4 inches in length. The largest lake trout was 37 inches long and weighed more than 20 pounds. The lake trout in the photos were tagged and released back into the lake!

Lots of Bear Lake whitefish and Bonneville whitefish were caught as well!
