The Crooked River is fishing well

4-14-2023
Fly and Field Outfitters

The Crooked River is fishing well. One of our local agencies called to inform us that they will be temporarily raising the flows April 17th to around 250 CFS to push smolt out of the system. These high flows will last several days so keep your eyes on the flows below the reservoir. A bit of good news for the crooked is that Prineville reservoir has been filling quickly over the last week and is currently sitting at 40% capacity, higher than it ever was last season. Hopefully this means we can avoid those 10cfs flows later in the year. As far as flies out there jigged leeches, eggs, zebra midges, perdigones, and nitro-caddis have been some recent favorites.
