41st Year for The Port of San Diego’s Day at the Docks

After a three-year hiatus, the West Coast’s largest public celebration of sportfishing is back!

The 41st edition of the Port of San Diego’s Day at the Docks™ will take place on Sunday, March 19th on the waterfront against the backdrop of the dynamic San Diego sportfishing fleet in Point Loma.  Normally held in April, the 2023 event has been scheduled nearly a month early, reflecting an early start to the San Diego spring saltwater fishing season.

This FREE West Coast public celebration is a favorite of anglers, their families, the sportfishing crews and marine and community exhibitors.  Enthusiastic anticipation is always high for this annual festival.

San Diego Fleet is the largest sportfishing fleet found anywhere in the world. The fleet has some of the most sophisticated boats in operation, capable of delivering both short-range and long-range trips into the prolific fish-filled waters off Southern California and the coast of Mexico

This festival is designed to appeal to the novice angler, the experienced fisherman and all those who have not yet discovered the lure of fishing on the sea. The day offers the opportunity to discover new adventures, explore the latest in fishing tackle and techniques, climb aboard and tour boats in the fleet, take a ride on San Diego Bay, tune into fishing seminars, cooking demos, live entertainment  and take part in fun, hands-on  activities planned for the day.

The Port of San Diego’s Day at the Docks™ is not only a fun, informative, and entertaining festival.  It is an important annual event bringing the fishing and not-yet-fishing public together to mingle with the San Diego sportfishing fleet’s captains and crews, scope out new offerings by tackle manufacturers, marine businesses, and artists, while exploring the hospitality offerings of the many restaurants and facilities surrounding the sportfishing landings around America’s Cup Harbor on San Diego Bay.

Activities at this year’s Day At The Docks™ include:
• Fleet Open House Aboard the Sportfishing Boats Welcoming One and All;
• Fishing and Boating “How-to” Seminars Presented by an All-Star Lineup of Captains & Fishing Pros;
• Exhibits by more than 200 Fishing Tackle and Boat Manufacturers and Community Groups;
• Marine Art, Clothing and Accessories;
• Cooking Demos by Local Chefs;
• Fillet Demonstrations of Fish, large and small;
• Live Music and Entertainment;

Parking is at a premium around the Landings, but FREE parking is available on Shelter Island and FREE round trip shuttle service to and from the festival is offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Port of San Diego’s Day At The Docks™ is produced by the San Diego Sportfishing Council and sponsored by the Port of San Diego. It is the joint effort of the sportfishing fleet captains and crews, area fishing clubs, the live bait supplier, retail stores, area restaurants, members of the Point Loma Commercial Fishing Alliance and many others.
