Water Conditions
The Truckee River is flowing around 130 CFS throughout the whole system. Current conditions make for very challenging fishing and very cold wading for anglers. Stealth is the name of the game at these flows. Wear plenty of layers as you will be fishing in temperatures ranging from 10 to 40 degrees. Anglers are seeing some hatches of blue winged olives and midges in the afternoons.
Tips for the Week
Tiny indicators or small dries with a dropper work well during this time of the winter season. The fish are found in the middle of the walking speed water and in the deepest parts of the pools. Some fish are even hanging in the shallows in the sun to keep warm. Wade in the shallower waters so you don't spook the fish in the low flows.
Suggested Flies or Lures
S/M Nymphs, JuJu Midges, Zebra Midges, Split Case Blue Winged Olives, and Split Wing Blue Winged Olives
