Fish Report for 12-9-2022
Water temperatures fell to sixty degrees
12-9-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Castaic held near 35 percent of capacity, and water temperatures fell to sixty degrees. Large and smallmouth have been tight lipped, but patient anglers found biters in deeper water on main lake points, bluff walls, and underwater humps. Drop shot, Fat Ikas, and Carolina rigged C3 Ice Picks in brown, purple, or Aaron’s magic all worked to fool fish. Striper took cut baits near the Forebay buoy line in 25 to 50 feet of water. They also fell for trolled A-rigs and flies. When the striper are up chasing shad topwater and Kastmasters have been good options. Over 1500 lbs of trout were stocked earlier this week and trout anglers lined the banks near the marina. Dough baits, Mouse Tails, and minijigs took the occasional rainbow trout, and catfish ate chicken liver, dip bait, and cut baits in deeper coves.
