In celebration of Elk Week, we're featuring special guest, Randy Newberg! At his core Randy is a hunter, an advocate for public land, and uses a variety of platforms to advocate for hunters and public land access! Some of his platforms include Fresh Tracks (TV/YouTube), Hunt Talk Radio (Podcast), RandyNewberg.com (Website), and Hunt Talk (Web Forum). In short, Randy is the leading voice for public land hunters across the nation!
In this week's Nevada Wild, he joins hosts Ashley Sanchez and Aaron Keller, and NDOW Big Game Biologist Cody McKee on Zoom from a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation event in Park City, Utah. He explains his deep connection to Nevada, why it is so important for him to connect people to conservation and our landscapes through hunting, and shares some elk hunting experiences he's had in the Nevada!

Humboldt River: Flows on the South Fork of the Humboldt are very low
Angel Lake: Fair to good fishing for both rainbow and tiger trout
Cold Creek Reservoir: No recent report but expect trout fishing to pick up
Lamoille Creek: As of September 9, Lamoille Creek was flowing at 4.29 cfs
Wild Horse Reservoir: Water levels are below 50 percent
Comins Lake: Trout fishing should start picking up
Cleve Creek: As of September 16, Cleve Creek was flowing at a low 3.54
Illipah Reservoir: The lake level is still low due to irrigation but is slowly recovering
South Fork Reservoir: Surface water temperatures have dropped into the high 60’s
Jakes Creek Reservoir (Boies Reservoir): The water level is low and weedy
Ruby Lake NWR: Dry flies have been working well
Wilson Reservoir: Poppers can be effective during low light, still water conditions
Kingston Creek: As of September 16, Kingston Creek was flowing at 2.65 cfs
Steptoe Creek: As of September 16, Steptoe Creek was flowing at a very low 1.74 cfs
Cave Lake: Cave Lake is closed to fishing
Bruneau River: As of September 16, the Bruneau River was flowing at a low 5.13 cfs
Owyhee River - East Fork: East Fork of the Owyhee below the dam was flowing at 2.39 cfs
