Fish Report for 8-19-2022
The catfish bite is still going strong
8-19-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Pyramid Lake remained at 92 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been in the low eighties. Anglers worked the grass mats with frogs, poppers, and buzzbaits in the mornings for fish to five pounds. The weed mats are thick, and anglers have to work the pockets or along weed lines for bites. Ned rigs, Senkos, and Texas rigs in Green Pumpkin, Ox Blood, or shad colors are getting bite in weed pockets and along bluff walls. Jerkbaits also worked to entice a few bass from the shelter of the weeds. Striper anglers soaked bait out deeper to avoid all the weeds. Sardines, anchovies, and bloodworms all scored fish. Striper have been boiling in the mornings near Serrano, Yellowbar, and Chumash, and anglers target them with spoons, topwater, and Flukes. The catfish bite is still going strong, and anglers can hook up almost anywhere by soaking cut baits, dip bait, and chicken liver.
