Cold and sunny on the Truckee River

Cold and sunny on the Truckee River.

Not too much going on since last report. Flows and conditions have largely remained the same most of January.

January has been below average temp wise. Single digits here in the Hirsch every morning. Just doesn’t really warm up that much when it starts out that cold. Reno/ Sparks is the better option on the river. Cold in the mornings, but way warmer in the afternoons, and more active fish. Been having a few descent dry fly days down there, but we really need is some cloud cover, anything to cover up the sun would help. Would help on the streamer front too. Folks been asking about when I start getting serious about the fishing up here again. When it warms up.
