ATTEND THE UPCOMING MLPA BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE MEETING

October 20-22, 2009
Hilton Long Beach
701 West Ocean Blvd., Long Beach , California

Your time on the water is being threatened by the implementation of the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA), which requires the formation of a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in California state waters, including Marine Reserves which prohibit all consumptive activities. This includes recreational fishing!

In October, the Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF) will be making its recommendation to California 's Fish and Game Commission regarding which areas of Southern California waters will be closed to recreational fishing. Unless the voices of concerned citizens are heard we are in danger of losing our right to access public waters and key fishing spots.

What YOU can do!

Plan on attending just one day of the public meeting in October and speak up during the public comment period! Let the BRTF members know how important your favorite fishing spots are and how anglers have always been part of the solution - not the problem! Let them know that additional marine reserves do not always mean more - or better - conservation.

More Information to Follow!

Fletch and Don, a bunch of the flyers at the Landings would...... Read More
