California's Fish and Game Commission Nearing Decision on Recreational Fishing Access in the North Central Coast

Take Action!
Letters from anglers and boaters needed to persuade Commission to adopt Proposal 2XA

The Situation

At its upcoming August 5 meeting, the California Fish and Game Commission is scheduled to vote on which marine protected area (MPA) proposal adopt for the North Central Coast under the state's Marine Life Protection Act. Right now, the Commission is poised to adopt a preferred alternative that closes 13 percent of the North Coast Study region to recreational fishing. However, the Partnership for Sustainable Oceans (PSO), which represents the interests of recreational anglers and boaters, is supporting proposal 2XA for the North Central Coast. Proposal 2XA places MPAs in locations with a high level of conservation while minimizing the economic impact on local communities and still allows anglers maximum access to fishing.

SEND YOUR MESSAGE NOW! To protect as much recreational fishing opportunity as possible, send a letter to the California Fish and Game Commission in support of proposal 2XA. The Commission needs to hear from you before its upcoming vote - send your letter now!

Thank you for doing your part to Keep America Fishing.
