FISH REPORT RETURNS AFTER FOUR WEEK ABSENCE

Clear blue skies, temperatures in the high 80s low 90s today. The long range forecast calls for higher temps mid week cooling a little Wednesday and beyond. Water temperatures are currently 68 degrees at the 20 foot mark and 72 degrees at surface in the Marina. Water visibility is clear to 15 feet. Water level is approximately 10 foot below the spill and steady.

BANK FISHING ---- Warm temperatures have discouraged all but the most dedicated shore anglers. Most activity has been at the areas where deeper water access available. Try Rainbow and Blue Heron Points, behind the EBMUD boathouse, Stony Point Landing and the Woodpile. Most are casting 30 feet or farther out from the shore to end up in the deeper cooler water that the fish prefer. Clear bobbers with power bait suspended 3 to 6 feet below or sliding sinker setups that suspend the bait off the bottom are the ticket. Kastmasters or black/green woolly buggers are very successful right after a plant. Power eggs, maggots and power worms in white are the best still hot, with night crawlers and yellow power bait also popular. Chartreuse power bait with sparkles is always effective.

TROLLERS----Trollers are sticking to the Narrows, the River Mouth and heading upstream beginning at the Rock Wall. Trout is the prevalent catch with some smaller Kokanee mixed in. Recent warmer water temperatures have sent trout and Kokanee deeper lately. Start your downriggers at 30 to 60 feet and be prepared to go lower still if the warm weather continues as forecast. Haven't heard exactly what's working well as far as lures are concerned but the standards usually put them in the box. Try Uncle Larry's copper popper, pinkie or tiger behind a smaller Sep's silver, watermelon or silver/green dodger. Hoochies and bugs are also tempting.

RECENT SUCCESS STORIES---Dan of Carmichael got this 7 pound catfish at the boat ramp using power bait, Ben Johnson of Elk Grove got these cats and a bass in the main body of the Lake using night crawlers, Tony Bradshaw of Vacaville got his cats same place using chicken livers. Last but not least Lou and grandson Tony are thinning out the catfish population in Ticket Cove with stinky chicken livers. Well done-Congratulations to all!

BASS---No bass tidbits this report, check out the eastern shore points using worms and swimbaits.

To date 66,000 lbs of good size Trout have been planted by Lake Pardee Inc. and the California Department of Fish and Game with another plant scheduled for the near future.
