Lake Jennings Fish Report 04-01-2007

Hello from your Lake Jennings! There are no jokes in this report!!

The waxing moon's effect on our fish was real evident this weekend. It was definitely an early morning and a late afternoon bite for the bass, trout and even the cats. Water clarity was also problematic. 15 to 20 ft. visibility moved the bass further down in the water column. If they aren't tight to the bushes, then they were nesting in 20 ft of water. Sight anglers found it almost impossible. Good trout action is all bait in a few small areas. Half Moon, Eagle Point, and Otto Point (listed in order of productivity). The cats are also in the bushes and in the holes back in Hermit Cove.

Best Trout Spots: Eagle Point, Otto Point and Half Moon Cove.

Best Trout Bait: Rainbow Power Bait or inflated crawlers fished with a water float.

Best Trout Lures: Silver Kastmasters and gold Rapalas.

Best Catfish Spots: Flooded brushand Hermit Cove.

Best Catfish Lures/Bait: Bring mackerel, and fish shallow.

Best Bass Spots: Close to shore on the points.

Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads, jigs, lizards and swim baits.

Notables: Sat., Khoury Shanklan (pictured top), Spring Valley, 18-8 blue cat, mackerel, Hermit Cove.

Prognosis: We said it last weekend and we are saying it again: Don't miss this weekend if you love bass or trout. Mt Lassen will deliver 2000 lbs. of trout this week. Current water temperature is 68 degrees.

Spring Break Schedule: We will be open daily Friday, March 30 thru Sunday, April 8, 2007 from 6:30 a.m. ??? 7:30 p.m.

Save The Date: This year's "Kids Fish Free" event will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007. The event will include a free BBQ and prizes for the best kids fish story! Click here for a printable flyer.

Less exciting this past weekend was the fishing overall. The bass bite was a very early and very late affair. No swimbait fish reported. The trout were decidedly more difficult even though......
