TROUT: With the wild weather fronts this week, and the sunny bright conditions the rest of the week, the trout reports from anglers have been hit and miss. The fishermen that found some action, had lots of action. One angler reported catching 2 limits of trout trolling near Hat Island with green grubs with a Power Egg. He was top lining, and caught his fish early in the morning.

Mike Steele, from Placerville caught 4 trout, with a 4 ?? pound average. He was fishing with Power Bait in orange twist flavor, and was fishing right off the bottom in 25 feet of water. John Rushmeyer, from Rio Vista, rented a boat and caught several trout up to 3 pounds, and also caught 3 large crappie in the 2 pound range. He was using live minnows, and fishing in Camanche Arm (South Shore harbor.) Bill Knapp, from Sacramento, caught a fine limit of trout, with a whopper that weighed in at 7 pounds. He was trolling with a dodger / nightcrawler from Hat Island out to the dam. Most of his fish came in the top 15 feet of water. Jim Bieg, from Sacramento, caught a beautiful limit of trout, with a kicker at 6.1 pounds. He was trolling with a dodger/nightcrawler near the dam

This week's trout plant from Mt. Lassen hatchery will be 1,800 pounds of fish, and will split between North Shore lake (600 pounds), South Shore Pond (600 pounds), and South Shore lake (600 pounds). These fish will weigh an average of 2 ?? pounds, with many from 3 pounds and p.

BASS: The bass bite continues to be red hot this week at Lake Camanche. I have talked to many boats that have caught upwards of 20-25 fish per boat.

John Bilbao, from Folsom, and Chris Murray, from Elk Grove caught 3 limits of bass on Saturday while fishing with their friend Chris C. They were using crawdads, up the river, and all their fish came in less than 15 feet of water. Another angler reported catching and releasing 25 bass up to 4 pounds this week. He was using 4" Robo Worms and dark jigs, and was fishing in the main body of the lake on submerged island tops. Another angler reported catching and releasing 15 bass, up to 3 ?? pounds, while drifting minnows in the Narrows. He was fishing about 15 feet deep. Another angler reported catching and releasing almost 20 bass this week. He was using top water baits in the early morning, and crawdad imitation baits the rest of the day. He was fishing near Lancha Plana up river, and in the main lake near Dike 2.

CRAPPIE: The crappie bite continues to be very strong for some anglers. Prominent Bay Area angler, Stan Wong, caught and released about 15 crappie in the 1 ??-2 pound range on Wednesday. He was fishing with live minnows in 15-20 feet of water, and was fishing near the North Shore harbor.

Crappie regular, Arron Barnhar, was fishing again this week and had great success catching crappie up to 1 ?? pounds. He was using live minnows to locate the crappie, and then switched over to mini jigs to catch most of his fish. He was fishing the main lake, in 15-20 feet of water.

We encourage all anglers to report their stories, comments, or concerns to either North Shore Store, South Shore Store, or to us by email at eporray@camancherecreation.com. Thanks again for choosing Lake Camanche for your recreation destination.
