A nice change of scenery and pace as the rugged Northern Baja coast welcomed us with calm wind and rapidly diminishing swell and seas. A few fish were in the cards too as we thoroughly enjoyed almost a couple of hours of surface action on yellowtail. Fired up on the sardines boiling all around the "pluggers" had a field day on the long rods. Combined with all other methods that were effective we added to the catch of premium yellowfin tuna in the tanks with the perfect amount of this coastal grade that was roughly 10-15 pounds. Working up the line following the afternoon fishing respite a few areas offered promise in conditions but fell flat on production. Days end found us tucked up tight in a tranquil, lee side anchorage taking a Babe Ruth swing in search of White Sea Bass. Catching or not the grease smooth conditions were an undisputed win. The final day tomorrow will be spent offshore in search of one last variety component. A few more yellows and a shot at some dorado is the icing on the cake we are looking for.
Today's image features another long time Royal Star friend and angler Dave Povey with his 54 pound yellowtail landed on the outside a few days prior.
