Jess Ranch Lake Fish Report

7-12-2009
Jess Ranch Lakes Staff

The summer heat (and the full moon), slowed the trout bite with anglers using everything in their tackle boxes to catch fish. Power Bait (especially rainbow, garlic and orange), night crawlers, jigs and lures all caught fish. Best bite is before 10am. Hot spots included the northern shore of lake 2 and the eastern shore of lake 3. Catfish continue hit Power Bait (anglers going for trout) and night crawlers with the eastern shore of lake 2 and the western shore of lake 3 near the pump house producing limits. Bass and Bluegill have just spawned and are slower to hit senkos, night crawlers and meal worms. Hot spots included the western shore near the pump house and the south eastern shore of lake 2 near the wall. We've had to discontinue our weekly catfish stocking due to hatchery conflicts; however we're still stocking trout every week.

Catches of the Week:
- Fred Winterswyk of Rancho Cucamonga caught a 4 lbs 2 ozs rainbow on a crappie jig with a power worm tail from the northern shore of lake 2 near the inlets.
- Craig Stepler of Riverside reeled in a 3 lbs 2 ozs trout on rainbow Power Bait while fishing the eastern logged shore of lake 3.
- Larry Henson of Alta Loma caught a 3 lbs 12 ozs rainbow while fishing the north eastern shore of lake 3.

The Lakes' Hatchery stocks trout every Friday year round.
This year the Lakes' hatchery is amping up the weekly trout stockings with bigger fish overall.
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday--7am to 4pm. For more information call (760)240-1107 or go to www.jessranchlakesnews.com.
