Puerto Morelos Fish Report- Marina El Cid, Cancun to Cozumel Area
7-9-2009
Larry Edwards
The summer fishing for the Puerto Morelos area continues to provide a
catch variety unlike most of our other areas. While a bit slow for
anglers, the 7 days fished reflected 1 blue marlin, 4 king mackerel,
5 triggerfish, 1 dorado, 1 red snapper, 14 Atlantic barracuda and 2
bonito for their efforts. The bestt part about this area is the
proximity of the fishing grounds just being a mile or so offshore
from the Marina El Cid, allowing for longer fishing days.
PM Climate: Mostly cloudy, a little humid, with temps from 76 nights
to 92 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Stable water temps remained at 85 degrees throughout
the area. Summer tropical surface breezes to about 15 knots.
Best Bait/Lure: The rigged ballyhoo continue to work best for this
area.
Bait Supply: Ballyhoo are readily available on a daily basis.
