OR Department of Fish & Wildlife Staff
Fishing is generally best when flows are below 3,000 cfs. Currently flows are around 1,070 cfs at the Waterloo gage. Approximately 20,000 Chinook have crossed over Willamette Falls with about 1,200 of these fish being counted at Foster Dam and fish ladder.
A few summer steelhead have already shown up below Foster, but the overall number of fish is still low. Fishing for smallmouth bass can be very good during the warm months below Lebanon. Anglers are reporting hooking into smallmouth bass already.
Trout fishing reopened May 22. Anglers are reminded that only fin-clipped trout are allowed to be kept.
