South Fork Bishop Creek Fish Report

6-21-2009
Jared Smith

The big news this week was the 10+ lb rainbow that was caught and released in the South Fork of Bishop Creek. The fish, caught by Arthur Lai aka \\\"Wingnut\\\" from La Verne, CA, was absolutely massive for a creek fish. Arthur was a guest at Parchers and was nice enough to show me a picture of the beast - it was easily the biggest rainbow I\\\'ve seen in my four seasons in the canyon. I\\\'ll post a picture of the fish as soon as I get it. Fishing for the stockers was a bit slower this week but anglers working the pockets could usually scratch out a limit in a days fishing. Mini-jigs and Crawlers were the best producers. Parchers Hole, Willow Camp and the Tyee Bridge were the hot spots. Quite a few browns to 11 inches were showing in the creek this week.

Other Notes

Weir Pond was great for fish to 3lbs this week following an Alpers plant on Friday. There have also been two tagged fish spotted in the pond this week so their are at least two winning Bishop Creek Canyon Summer Classic fish still in there. Still only 1 tag out of South Lake

Bishop Creek Canyon Summer Classic Derby

South Lake, Sabrina, North Lake, Intake II, Weir Pond and both forks of Bishop Creek will receive tagged fish for the derby that started June 1st and continues through the end of the month. Registration is $5 and you can register at Parchers Resort, South Lake Landing, Bishop Creek Lodge, Lake Sabrina, Cardinal Village, Creekside RV Park, Culver\\\'s Sporting Goods, Mac\\\'s Sporting Goods and the Bishop Chamber of Commerce.
