South Lake Fish Report

Fishing & Weather
Mother Nature finally delivered a taste of summer sunshine this weekend, of course it wasn\'t quite July weather either as a crisp wind replaced the clouds and rain of weeks past. The DFG hit South Lake with fish twice this week and we bought a big load of Alpers that went in on Wednesday in preparation for the FishingNetwork.net \"Team 57\" event held at Parchers this week. Fishing wasn\'t as wide open as one would expect with all of the stockings but there were a lot of full stringers and quite a few solid fish to 3.5lbs caught in the lake. The rock slide and the Long Lake inlet were the hot spots for those throwing brown mini-jigs, pink or orange plastic trout worms, gold Kastmasters and red/gold Thomas Bouyants. Bait anglers were doing quite well from shore using inflated crawlers, pink Gulp clusters and the Gulp Trout Worms in Pink or Orange. Boiler Cove and the area around the boat launch were the best spots for shore fishing.

Water Conditions
South Lake continues to each up shoreline and is coming up fast. The ramp is still a bit treacherous for longer boats but we\'ve seen folks launch boats to up to 16ft long without a problem. Please note that anyone using the launch does so at their own risk.
