The fishing has been consistent on the Crooked River

Water levels on the Crooked just went from 311 CFS down to around 190 CFS. Fishing should be slightly easier than it was in the higher water. Hopefully we will see the water levels stabilize for a while. The fishing has been consistent. Blue winged olives are still hatching in the afternoons and the fish will likely look for midges in the mornings and evenings. Look for caddis and maybe some pale morning duns as the days continue to get warmer. For nymphing, midges and BWO patterns are a good way to go. There’s also been word of fish keying in on scuds. Now that water levels are back down, large nymph patterns may start to become less productive than before. Try swinging some sculpzilla around to find a nice big red-side. This is a great time to headout to the Crooked, hit it before the heat comes and the canyon drys out.
