Mazatlan Fish Report- The Aries Sportfishing Fleet

5-14-2009
Larry Edwards

Another area that is hard-hit by the swine flu media frenzy that has devastated the sportfishing and hotel industry. This is normally a fairly busy time frame for the Mazatlan region, especially for the sportfishing, and it has been whittled down to almost nothing. The Aries Sportfishing Fleet reports for a total of 4 fishing days that reflected 2 striped marlin, 1 sailfish and 5 dorado for the offshore efforts and limits of barracuda, 1 red snapper and 3 sierra for 2 inshore fishing days aboard the super pangas.

Mazatlan Climate: Partly cloudy days, but comfortably warm with temps from 65 nights to 91 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Excellent, calm waters, temps from 82 inshore to 84 offshore.

Best Fishing Area: None reported as the boats traveled out to the southwest of the Marina in the regular fishing areas.

Best Lure/Bait: Rigged mullet that were slow-trolled were the best for both, billfish and dorado.
