A great big Happy New Year to all and by judging the smile on our local anglers face he is definitely finishing of the year right. This angler Kanan Guleryuz is showing us this nice 17.04 pound striper at 37 and 1/8 inches he landed at Community Park Area.  He was throwing one of his favorite swim baits while fishing from shore. This time of year some of our larger stripers are cruising our Colorado River waters here below the Davis Dam. I might add that it seems to be that your swim baits, glide baits and some of the top water lures do produce some great catches.

The weather conditions have been keeping most of our anglers off the lake. Lake Mohave can get a bit windy which is not safe for the smaller water craft due to the waves that the wind can create. The good news we have some great fishing here along our shore line for rainbow trout. The Willow Beach hatchery is bringing us rainbows usually up into March. The fish will usually hang out for a while and then you will have to hunt for that spot where they are waiting for food. Night crawlers and power bait have done pretty well to allow our anglers to get their limit of 5 trout here below the Davis Dam. Various spinners and a few grubs also make for a great day of fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

We have some great parks on both sides of the Colorado River that offer anglers of all degrees of experience some excellent fishing opportunities . The river here can pose some issues at first but once you get the hang of using the current to your advantage its on and you start catching fish. This is where I like to come in and share that story of the fish you have landed and what and where you were at.
