- Stocking: The next trout stocking is this week! Another 1500 lbs. will be added to the lake. Stocking will be biweekly throughout the season to reach a total of 19,000 lbs. So far 2500 lbs. of trout were stocked the week of November 16th for the trout opener. 10% of every stocking is trophy trout!
- What's the catch? A little bit of everything this week. Trout, sunfish, bluegill, and bass were all biting. The best trout spots were Hermit Cove and Sentry Cove/Point. They were biting on Turbo Dough and Rainbow powerbait, inflated nightcrawlers, and Hook-up Baits. Bass were chasing Kastmaster lures and roboworms from Half Moon Cove and Siesta Point. Bluegill are still nibbling all over the lake on half a nightcrawler and meal worms.
- Trout Fishing Tips: Our rangers recommend ½ of a night crawler (inflated) 2-3 ft. leader from the shore or boat. Tie the hook on the end of the line with split shot 2-3 ft. above the worm making sure the worm floats and is holding air. Moving the bait a little at times can generate a wonderful moment.
- New Lake Hours: Beginning Friday, November 27th the lake will be transitioning to our fall hours, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thank you for keeping night fishing going strong long past Labor Day when we normally move to Fall hours! Stay tuned for more information on New Moon Fishing where we will be open later than normal once a month.
- As a reminder, there is no fishing off of the boat dock, ramp or boat launch. Please keep yourself and our patrons safe and refrain from fishing in these areas. Thanks!
- Conditions: This week Helix Water District will start refilling the lake at 20 million gallons per day for the next month. Please be aware of changing shorelines. The current water temperature is 69 degrees. For an updated weather report in Lakeside this weekend, click HERE.
- Toys for Tots: We are excited to collect toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program this year. Many have been impacted financially by the pandemic, so we’re hoping to make this holiday season a little brighter for local families in need. If you’d like to participate, you can drop off a new, unwrapped toy today through Monday, December 14 in the Toys for Tots collection box at the bait shop. Acceptable gifts and toys are any that you would consider appropriate for your own child or relative, as long as it does not contain food or resemble realistic weapons.
- Campground News: Long term campsites are available through March! We have full and partial hookups available and some even have a view of the lake. If you would like to know long term availability or have questions, please call (619) 596-1333.
- We're HIRING! We're looking for Volunteer Park Hosts to live and work in our campground. Exchange a minimum of 20 hours of labor per week (including weekends and holidays) for a campsite with water, sewer, and electricity. For more information, click HERE.
