I have to admit that strong emotion founded my thoughts as Captain Blake Wasano pulled away from the dock Friday on his first voyage in command of Royal Star. A better man with a more solid foundation in long range fishing does not exist. Working his way up the ranks on Royal Star since the age of 19 Blake has always been a superb fisherman with instincts that will serve every angler well on future voyages under his command. A seasoned mariner with thousands of days offshore to his credit at 33 years young Blake's understanding of long range expectations, client relationships, safety, and the vessel mechanically are fine tuned. He has now joined the elite ranks of long range Captains.

Let us hope that good fishing fortune awaits his group of 19 anglers venturing this three day voyage in search of late season bluefin, yellowfin, and all other species offshore. A great weather forecast opens the door for all options west and south. Ample fishing time on departure day has already produced results. Long time Royal Star angler and friend Jose Arrelano heard that Blake was going to take the helm on this run and immediately signed on. He was rewarded richly on day one with this dandy 150 pound class bluefin tuna.
