The sailfish bite at Puerto Morelos is starting to take hold and almost every boat that fished an 8-hour day had sailfish in the daily catches. Overall reports for 21 days fished reflected a total of 15 sailfish, 10 dorado, 2 red snapper, 2 barracuda, 2 wahoo, 2 king mackerel and t yellowfin tuna. According to the fleet manager, Armando Gutierrez, the bite has been on the upswing for the past week and even the full moon didn't stop the action. He things that as the moon goes darker, the fishing action will spiral upwards for all of the big game species.

Puerto Morelos Climate: Partly cloudy days with a good mix of sunshine temps from 74 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: The temps were holding well at 80 degrees throughout the region and the surface winds from the east were light and variable to about 13 knots, just enough to make the fish active and bite.

Best Bait/Lure: The ballyhoo, both rigged and unrigged were working well for the billfish

Bait supply: Continues to be ballyhoo for this area and there has never been any shortage over the past couple of years.
