THE MAZATLAN FISH REPORT - THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET
Good offshore water temperatures have helped to increase the billfish action this week to a shade above the 50-50 level for the first time in several weeks and with any luck at all, this is an indicator that the upward trend will just get better and better. The inshore action was again wide-open action for the bottom fish on the super pangas and provided another smorgasbord of tasty delicacies. The overall catches for the offshore waters for 24 days fished reflected 12 stripers, 2 sailfish, 4 dorado and 4 mako sharks. The inshore super pangas, reporting for 14 days fished reflected 49 vaquetas, limits of roncachos, limits of pargo, limits of cochitos, 19 conejos, 96 mojarres, 59 loras and 15 grouper.
Mazatlan Climate: Sunny and clear days, excellent weather, temps from 55 nights to 86 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Light northerly breezes in the 5-7 knot ranges, temps at 73 inshore and rising to 75-76 offshore.
Best Fishing Area: Still, no concentration of fish and the boats are fishing far and wide for the catches, with most boats working the southwest areas.
Best Bait/Lures: Rigged mullet, slow trolled from the outriggers was the best bait for the week for the offshore fishing.
