Big king salmon make a showing on the Sacramento River!
We have been reporting that more and more salmon have been showing in the upper Sacramento River recently. We have also been reporting that there has been some very large king salmon coming into our nets as well. Wednesday's guided trips brought in some above average king salmon on the Sacramento River for Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service. Gary Vieira from Central California climbed aboard Professional Guide Service this week and hooked and landed a 30 pound Sacramento River king salmon! With the help of Dave Jacobs, Ryan Tripp and Steve Lowery all three guides have boated more fresh king salmon for visiting clients to take home with them this week. Back bouncing "old style" sardine wrapped kwikfish plugs has been the top producing technique lately to boat several large Sacrmento River king salmon. Switching to roe/puffball combos has also been a good choice to back bounce as the sun hits the water later in the mornings.
Peak salmon season is fast approaching. Late August and all of September is primetime salmon fishing on the Sacramento River from the Barge Hole all the way downriver through Chico California. If catching one of these many salmon that are pictured here today from Wednesday's Sacramento River fishing charter interest you, call guide Dave Jacobs of Professional Guide Service at (530) 646-9110 today! "We have been perfecting salmon fishing since 1985!"
