Pedro's Pangas Fish Report

2-27-2009
Pete Hills

This fish report is from Pete Hillis reporting out of Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja Mexico for the week ending Feb. 27, 2009.

The weather conditions have still been up and down with very cold mornings and evenings. The famous San Quintin winds have been on and off as well. Boats that did get out were Rich Shary with friends, Scott McCully and Kenny Lyon from Yucca Valley, and Bernie Melnick from Pioneer Town. Fishing with Captain Hector on the Rommy, they got limits of reds and white fish and 10 ling cods to 15 lb. On their return from the first day fishing, they stopped at the mouth of the bay to try their luck at halibut. Scott McCully got a nice surprise--he landed a 65 lb white seabass on a large, live sardine.

On the Pelicano with Captain Miguel, Larry Deakyne from Cool, California, with son Ryan, from San Diego, and Ian Daley from San Francisco, stopped in on their return from Punto Chivato and loaded their cooler with filets of rock cod, ling cod and white fish.

This fish report is from Pete Hillis, reporting out of Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja Mexico for the week ending February 20, 2009. Weather turned around for us and we were back to our regular schedule as far as getting boats out of the bay. However, our report is pretty much the same as last week's report as far as what was caught, their size and number. Hot spots continue to be the 240 and 15 fathom for great rock and ling cod action. ...... Read More

This fish report is from Pete Hillis, reporting out of Pedro's Pangas, San Quintin, Baja Mexico for the week ending February 12, 2009. Heavy winds and rains kept most boats in. Boats that did brave the weather and remained out returned with a good count of nice yellowtail brought in at the 15 fathom spot and a few nice lings off the slide. Hope weather clears for a better report next week. Our rock cod fishing is always good as usual....... Read More
