Fine time

A fine day overall on the offshore grounds scratching away a bluefin in the 70 - 120 pound class with a handful of 25 - 40 pound yellowfin and bluefin mixed in. As a precursor to what this season has to offer I can confidently predict that we have another incredible summer/fall of offshore tuna fishing in store. Whoa. We spent the entire day drifting amidst the main vein. Surrounded by fish parading for miles and miles the frustration of not hooking more of the picky devils was tempered by rapidly improving weather and beautiful sights. The quality of the bigger fish was mighty motivational as well.

Finishing off what became a fine three day that featured the big three - quantity, variety, and sufficient quality, we thank Las Rocas charter master extraordinaire Glenn Evans for this tireless effort at creating a welcome, relaxing environment. Minimizing the weather and maximizing the good times we arrive tomorrow prepared to host the next impromptu one and one half day run departing Monday evening. Look for reports to continue as Captain Randy Toussaint and I team up on the offshore grounds.

Photo today features Royal Star angler Craig Van Thyne with his 123 pound bluefin tuna.
