Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Fish Report
2-5-2009
Larry Edwards
Good, clean & blue water, moved with 6 miles of the Zihuatanejo Bay
and with that the sailfish counts shot-up on a daily basis. Fair
blue marlin action was being found offshore at about 16 miles or so,
but the fish were smaller, in the 160 lb. ranges. According to
Captain Temo Verboonen, there was good dorado action at eleven miles
on a current line with floating debris. The inshore waters were
offering good jack cravelle action along with Spanish mackerel,
(sierra) and big rainbow runners.
IZ Climate: Wonderful climate, balmy nights and warm days, mostly sunny, temps from 72 nights ti 90 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Mostly calm waters, light surface breezes, temps from 82 inshore to 83 offshore
Best Bait/Lure: Rigged mullet were doing very well for the billfish anglers.
