Fish Report for 5-2-2020
Striped bass fishing still an option.
5-2-2020
Jeff Goodwin
The Sacramento River is seeing warmer water temps and the water pumps are running 24/7 to fill the rice fields. Its normal for this time of year, especially when spring flows are down. Reduced flows and hot weather have driven the water temps up in the river and the Striped bass are spawning. They do their thing and head back down river, leaving holes in the fishery above and below Colusa. Timing is everything and finding pods of Stripers is critical to your success with conditions like we are seeing now. Boats are seeing a mixed number of keepers the past two days and a lot of the Stripers in the system are sub legal size fish. It hasn't seemed to cut down on the boat traffic and its still a busy venue. I'm getting daily reports from our boats down there so stay tuned for more reports over the next few weeks as our Striped bass season on the Sacramento River progresses. Thank you!
