Truckee River Fishing Report-8-4-19

Matt Koles

Same old same old on the Truckee River.

Not much change since last report. Trouts are in the pocket water. Trouts like eating crayfish this time of year.

Flows have been bumped up out of Lake Tahoe adding about 100 more cubes all down the river. Really good summer flows, and not much need to worry about warm water temps except on the Nevada side of the river later in the afternoon.

We’ve been hooking fish every morning. Some mornings are better than other of course, but if you can wade around the river, I can getcha fish. Suppose to be a lot cooler this week with highs in the 70’s and cooler overnight lows. Not too hot in Reno either. Last summer Reno set a record for consecutive days over 90. I think Reno has only hit 100 once? Definitely not that hot of a summer in the Truckee River basin.

I have some spots for the August 10th Tight Line Nymph Clinic. The 17th is sold out. What you learn in the class will change the game for you.

Fall fishing will be very good this year. I say that every year, ha ha. The good days are filling up. So if you guys are thinking of a trip, get on the good foot and give a call.
