Fish Report for 11-30--0001
Add to Puerto Vallarta tuna story
11-30--0001
Bill Roecker
I see that there is controversy already concerning the 385-pound tuna reported by skipper Keith Denette. This has often been the case with large tuna reported from Puerto Vallarta over the past few years. I remember one picture of a tuna reported to weigh in that "super cow" range that seemed unlikely to me to weigh more than 160 or 180 pounds.
This tuna was weighed on water, an IGFA no-no, and the scales may not have been properly set to indicate an accurate weight.
Nevertheless, I ran the math on the tuna according to the given figures, and got 389.2 pounds.
Finally and in any case, no world record claim is being made for this fish.
