Shasta Lake report
4-2-2019
Jeff Goodwin
Today we fished Shasta Lake and sort of landed on a good news, bad news kind of day. The water is in great shape, but there is quite a bit of floating debris on the surface. This makes for some extra work, especially since I'm still fishing in the top 10 feet of the water column. We did find some nice fish and lady luck dominated the creel once again. We hit a brown right away this morning and scratched out another brown and some rainbows for the fish box before the bite shut off hard at around 1:00. The afternoon bite has been pretty good, but not today. The good news is, the lake is warming and we ended the day in mostly 51 degree water in the main body of Shasta. The weather is playing a major role in the bite on Shasta and looks like its going to hold on the ugly side for the week ahead. I'm ready for spring!
