Today's bluefin fishing was a plunker bite to the extreme. Bites were very hard to come by and required an immense amount of patience and time at the rail. We did catch some smaller grade 15lb fish but once again our total catch of 26 fish included several nice 25-40lb fish. We also throughout the day had a little bit of excitement from school sized yellowtail on kelps that quickly turned the upwind corner into a huge mess. Rose O'Brien accomplished the ultimate feat when she landed a 135lb fish on 40lb test line which by far and away is the biggest fish landed locally this year (about 50 miles from home).
Pictured with Rose is our own Andrew Viola who definitely was needed to help accomplish the big fish pose.

Unfortunately after studying the weather forecasts we determined that not only would it be unfishable, it would realistically not be safe to go past 75...... Read More
